CULTURE IS NOT ACCIDENTAL.
At Apex Athletes Academy, we believe that culture is not accidental. It is purposively built through leadership, communication, governance, professionalism, and the everyday experiences shared between athletes, families, and staff.
While athletic development is an important part of what we do, our broader vision extends far beyond skills and results alone. We aim to create an environment where athletes feel supported, challenged, respected, safe, and inspired to become the best version of themselves both inside the gym and outside of sport.
As Apex continues to grow, the following sections of our website will expand. The proceeding information provides a snapshot of key areas that help shape the Apex environment and community.
APEX CAREERS
Apex is currently accepting expressions of interest from individuals interested in joining our growing team across a range of coaching and professional staffing positions.
Future opportunities are anticipated across all academies and program pathways, including recreational coaching, competitive coaching, junior coaching positions, senior coaching roles, head coach appointments, administration, customer service, and broader organisational support roles.
At Apex, we are seeking individuals who demonstrate professionalism, integrity, strong communication skills, positive leadership, and a genuine commitment to athlete wellbeing and community culture.
During the pre-opening phase, prospective employees are encouraged to submit a cover letter alongside their CV or resume for preliminary consideration. Formal job advertisements and position-specific recruitment processes will be released progressively in the weeks and months ahead as the Apex organisational structure continues to develop.
APEX MERCHANDISE
Apex merchandise is being designed to help foster pride, connection, and community across all academies and programs.
Future collections are expected to include athlete apparel, supporter merchandise, academy uniforms, and branded accessories, with additional details to be released closer to launch.
APEX STAFF
At Apex, we are committed to building a professional, supportive, and highly collaborative staff culture focused on athlete development and positive leadership.
As the organisation grows, this section will expand to include our organisational structure alongside staff profiles, biographies, qualifications, coaching experience, and academy leadership information.
ATHLETE WELLBEING
Athlete wellbeing is a central part of the Apex philosophy. Our approach is informed not only by coaching experience, but also by expertise in psychology, developmental processes, learning environments, and athlete support.
Founder Dr Lacey Schaefer also holds Mental Health First Aid qualifications and brings experience supporting neurodivergent learners and athletes within educational and sporting environments.
CHILD SAFETY
The safety and wellbeing of children is one of the highest priorities at Apex. All staff and volunteers are required to hold a valid Blue Card and are expected to adhere to child-safe operational practices and behavioural expectations.
Apex also closely follows guidance provided by governing bodies including Gymnastics Australia and Gymnastics Queensland, alongside broader safeguarding and risk reduction principles informed by expertise in crime prevention and environmental safety.
COACHING PHILOSOPHY
The Apex coaching philosophy prioritises positive psychology, athlete confidence, strong relationships, and long-term growth. We believe athletes thrive within environments that are structured, encouraging, respectful, and professionally led.
Our focus is on progress over perfection, helping athletes build resilience, self-belief, work ethic, and a lifelong love of movement and sport.
PARENT COMMUNICATION
At Apex, we value respectful, honest, and transparent communication between families and staff. Parents are encouraged to speak openly with coaches regarding questions, goals, or concerns, while coaches will similarly communicate proactively with families where appropriate.
As our systems develop, families can also expect periodic progress updates designed to support athlete growth and strengthen collaboration between home and sport.
